
CUNY Leadership Academy (CLA) Fellows Program |
The signature program of the Academy, the Fellows Program provides a unique academic and co-curricular opportunity for students who have demonstrated extraordinary leadership on their campuses and in their communities. This innovative year-long program brings together best practices in leadership development from across CUNY, and beyond. The students, called Leadership Academy Fellows, are selected from across the University. This year's cohort represents 15 Colleges and 20 majors. The Fellows experience state of the art multicultural leadership education with emphases on service, community building, global perspectives, and innovation. CUNY Ambassadors Program |
The CUNY Ambassadors Program (CAP) focuses on increasing students' political acumen and advocacy skills, and is open to interested students across CUNY. This workshop series includes three sessions on coalition building, campaign ethics, and advocacy. The sessions conclude with an engaging workshop where students will have the opportunity to practice lobbying with experienced CUNY advocates such as Senior Vice Chancellor for University Relations Jay Hershenson, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Dr. Garrie Moore, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs Dr. Christopher Rosa, and Executive Director of the CUNY Leadership Academy Dr. Joe-Joe McManus. CUNY Corps |
CUNY Corps is the new community service initiative of the CUNY Leadership Academy. In support of President Obama's "Call to Service" as well as the new City initiative, and in the spirit of the longstanding and enduring tradition of public service at CUNY, The City University of New York is pleased to announce the launch of its most ambitious community service initiative to date - "CUNY Corps." Thousands of CUNY students are currently engaged in helping their City as interns in government offices, poll workers, volunteers, student aides, Urban Fellows, counselors and advisors in numerous community and government agencies, on campuses and through various community service organizations. Indeed, the well being and vibrancy of the City are enhanced daily by this veritable army of hard working students.
Student Leadership Recognition Program |
Each year students are selected to receive special recognition for their leadership contributions to the CUNY community. Students from each CUNY College who have demonstrated outstanding leadership on their campus are recognized at the Annual CUNY Leadership Awards Ceremony. This event is a celebration of student leadership across CUNY, which brings together students, faculty, administration, and families to show appreciation for the awardees extraordinary service. This year's CUNY Leadership Awards & Leadership Academy Commencement will be held at the Great Hall at City College on May 11th, 2009 and feature a keynote address from Frans Johansson, best-selling author of the Medici Effect.

CUNY is among the most diverse universities in the world. Our diversity is our greatest resource, and the source of inspiration for this collaborative program between the Academy, the CUNY Office of Multicultural Affairs, the Office of Recruitment and Diversity, and the Student Affairs Diversity Committee. Diversity professionals from across CUNY are working together and developing partnerships with organizations including the American Institute for Managing Diversity and the American Conference on Diversity, among others, to develop a world-class leadership program focused on diversity and inclusion. This program will focus on the development of cultural competencies, global perspectives, and multicultural coalition building skills. |
